Recreational Activities - Wilderness Permits & Reservations

Wilderness permits are required year round for the following:

  • All overnight visitors to the Ansel Adams, John Muir, Hoover, and Golden Trout Wildernesses.
  • All visitors entering the Mt. Whitney Zone, day use and overnight

Trailhead Quotas limit the number of people entering the wilderness. View a list of trail names and quotas, what time of year quotas apply, amount of space allocated to walk in permits and reservations, and bear canister required trailheads.
