About Us - Public Transportation to the Eastern Sierra

From Reno

The hiker/visitor who wants to reach the Eastern Sierra from Reno takes an Inyo Mono Transit bus between Reno and Bishop. To continue to Lone Pine and southern destinations, the hiker/visitor may need to transfer to a different Inyo Mono Transit bus. Inyo Mono Transit also operates buses originating in Mammoth traveling as far south as Bishop.

The Reno-Bishop bus makes four round trips per week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The Mammoth-Ridgecrest bus makes three round trips per week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Service between Bishop and Lone Pine, and between Bishop and Mammoth is available Monday through Saturday.

From Los Angeles

The hiker/visitor who wants to reach the Eastern Sierra from Los Angeles takes Metrolink from Los Angeles to Lancaster, from Lancaster takes a Kern Regional Transit bus to Mojave, from Mojave transfers to a different Kern Regional Transit bus to Ridgecrest, from Ridgecrest takes an Inyo Mono Transit bus to reach Eastern Sierra cities as far north as Mammoth. The Ridgecrest-Mammoth bus makes three round trips per week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Metrolink trains leave Los Angeles Union Station and travel to Lancaster. They stop at Glendale, Burbank, Sun Valley, Sylmar/San Fernando, Newhall, Santa Clarita, Via Princessa, Vincent Grade/Acton, and Palmdale along the way. From San Francisco Bay Area

The hiker/visitor who wants to reach the Eastern Sierra from San Francisco takes Amtrak to Merced, from Merced takes a YARTS bus (in summer only) to the Eastern Sierra cities of either Lee Vining, June Lake, or Mammoth Lakes, and from there transfers to an Inyo Mono Transit bus. (The hiker also has the option of taking a Greyhound bus from San Francisco to Merced.)

YARTS (Yosemite Area Rapid Transit Service): 877-989-2787

The hiker/visitor who wants to reach the Eastern Sierra from Las Vegas takes a Greyhound bus to Mojave, Ca and from Mojave takes a Kern Regional Transit bus to Ridgecrest, and from Ridgecrest takes an Inyo Mono Transit bus.
