President George W. Bush Joins in Observing Arts and Humanities Month
THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
October 1, 2007
I send greetings to those celebrating National Arts and Humanities Month 2007.
Since the founding of our Nation, our citizens have recognized the important role of the arts in a free society. Generations of Americans have established a vibrant and creative artistic legacy that extends from folk art to the genesis of jazz and beyond. This observance is an opportunity to celebrate the diverse traditions and the unifying power of the arts in the history of our country.
National Arts and Humanities Month is a time to recognize the ability of the arts to lift our spirits and enrich our lives. I encourage our citizens to support the arts in their communities by attending a theater performance or concert, visiting a museum or library, or enjoying the many exciting cultural programs in their communities.
Laura and I send our best wishes.
