JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- The State Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that Individual Assistance is now available for ten additional counties under President Bush's declaration (June 25) for the severe storms and flooding that began on June 1.

Individuals and households in the counties of Andrew, Cass, Greene, Holt, Johnson, Nodaway, Stone, Taney, Vernon and Webster can now register for disaster assistance for temporary housing; home repairs; repair or replacement of uninsured personal property; and medical expenses incurred as a result of the disaster.

Also, low-interest U.S. Small Business Administration loans are available for homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private nonprofits.

"We are pleased that these counties have been added," said Federal Coordinating Officer Michael Karl with FEMA. "It is our hope that flood-affected residents who live in these added counties will call FEMA as soon as possible and register to see if they are eligible for disaster recovery aid."

Residents are urged to register by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- or hearing-impaired. The toll-free telephone numbers operate daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Online registration is available 24-hours a day at www.fema.gov.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
