After a rainy period ended in Arkansas on December 13th,
another storm system visited from the southwest United States on the
14th/15th. |
In the picture: The weather pattern at
600 am CST on 12/15/2007...with a storm system ("L") along the Gulf
Coast and widespread precipitation surrounding the system. |
Clouds increased, with rain developing in southern
and western Arkansas on the afternoon of the 14th. During the overnight
hours, rain became widespread as the system tracked along the Gulf
Coast. Toward dawn on the 15th, drier air was pulled in from the
southwest (a dry slot)...which cutoff available moisture. Precipitation
mostly ended temporarily during the morning/early afternoon of the 15th. |
More moisture eventually wrapped around the system from the Plains
later on the 15th, with some light snow
across the northern counties. However, there was little to no accumulation.
There was light rain/drizzle farther south. |

The satellite (water vapor imagery) showed deep moisture (with
widespread precipitation) east of Arkansas and wraparound moisture
(leading to light snow) in northwest sections of the state at 445 pm CST
on 12/15/2007. |

Precipitation amounts for this event were generally
between one and two inches, with locally more than three inches in western
sections of the state. In the far north and west, less than an inch of
precipitation was measured. |
