AGENDA 136th ACNW MEETING JULY 23-25, 2002

TUESDAY JULY 23, 2002, CONFERENCE ROOM 2B3, TWO WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND
1) 12:30 - 12:40 P.M. Opening Statement (Open) (GMH/JTL)
The Chairman will open the meeting with brief opening remarks, outline the topics to be discussed, and indicate several items of interest.
2) 12:40 - 3:15 P.M. Yucca Mountain Review Plan, Revision 2 (Open) (GMH/RKM)
The Committee will hear presentations from industry and
government representatives on the proposed plan. In addition
it will discuss the elements of a letter report.
   3:15 - 3:30 P.M.

3) 3:30 - 6:00 P.M. Preparation of ACNW Reports (Open)
The Committee will discuss proposed reports on the following topics:
3.1) Long-Term Behavior of Waste Packages (RGW/ACC)
3.2) Igneous Activity Considerations (GMH/MPL)
3.3) High-Level Waste Performance Assessment
Sensitivity Studies (BJG/MPL)
WEDNESDAY JULY 24, 2002, CONFERENCE ROOM 2B3, TWO WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND
4) 8:30 - 8:35 A.M. Opening Statement (Open) (GMH/JTL)
The Chairman will make opening remarks regarding the conduct of today's sessions.
5) 8:35 - 9:40 A.M.
Greater-than-Class C (GTCC) (Open) (GMH/JTL)
The Committee will be briefed by a DOE representative on
GTCC related activities.
 6) 9:40 - 11:00 A.M. Source Control - A State Perspective (Open) (RGW/HJL)
The Committee will be briefed by respective representatives
from Illinois and Texas on the materials and radiation control programs in their states.
   11:00 - 11:15 A.M.

 7) 11:15 - 12:30 P.M. Source Control - NRC Activities (Open) (RGW/ACC)
The Committee will receive an oversight of the technical issues of the NRC program for the control of radioactive materials (e.g., NRC and licensee programs for source control, the General License Program, Orphan Sources, NMED, International activities. etc.).
   12:30 - 1:30 P.M.

8) 1:30 - 2:30 P.M. Agreement State Programs (Open) (RGW/HJL)
The Director, Office of State and Tribal Programs (OSTP) will discuss the NRC Agreement State Oversight Program (Integrated Materials Performance Evaluation Program).
9) 2:30 -3:30 P.M. Materials/Waste Issues Related to Advanced Reactors (Open)(ML/MME)
The Committee will receive an information briefing by NRC staff representatives on materials and waste considerations associated with advanced reactors.
   3:30 - 3:45 P.M.

10) 3:45 - 6:00 P.M. Preparation of ACNW Reports (Open)
The Committee will discuss proposed reports on the following topics:
10.1) GTCC/Source Control (RGW/HJL)
10.2) Long-Term Behavior of Waste Packages (RGW/ACC)
10.3) Igneous Activity Considerations (GMH/MPL)
10.4) High-Level Waste Performance Assessment
Sensitivity Studies (BJG/MPL)
THURSDAY JULY 25, 2002, CONFERENCE ROOM 2B3, TWO WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND
11) 8:30 - 8:35 A.M.

Opening Statement (Open)(GMH/JTL) The Chairman will make opening remarks regarding the conduct of today's sessions.

12) 8:35 - 2:45 P.M.(LUNCH 12N - 1:00 P.M.)

Preparation of ACNW Reports (Open)The Committee will continue preparation of reports noted in item 10.

13) 2:45 - 3:00 P.M. Miscellaneous (Open)
The Committee will discuss matters related to the conduct of
Committee activities and matters and specific issues that
were not completed during previous meetings, as time and
availability of information permit.
3:00 P.M. Adjourn 136th Meeting

NOTE:

  • Presentation time should not exceed 50 percent of the total time allocated for a specific item. The remaining 50 percent of the time is reserved for discussion.
  • Thirty-Five (35) copies of the presentation materials should be provided to the ACNW.
  • ACNW meeting schedules are subject to change. Presentations may be canceled or rescheduled to another day. If such a change would result in significant inconvenience or hardship, be sure to verify the schedule with Mr. Howard Larson at 301-415-6805 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., several days prior to the meeting.
