1) 12:30 - 12:40 P.M. Opening Statement (Open) (GMH/JTL)
The Chairman will open the meeting with brief opening remarks, outline the topics to be discussed, and indicate several items of interest.
2) 12:40 - 3:30 P.M. Igneous Activity Considerations at the Proposed High-Level Waste Repository at Yucca Mountain (Open) (GMH/MPL)
The Committee will hear presentations by several Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board (NWTRB) consultants on their perceptions on igneous activity efforts by both DOE and NRC.
   3:30 - 3:45 P.M.

3) 3:45 - 5:15 P.M. NRC's Package Performance Study Program (Open)(ML/TJK)
The Committee will hear an update by representatives of the
Spent Fuel Project Office and Sandia National Laboratories
on the current and future transportation safety studies and
potential confirmatory testing.
4) 5:15 - 6:00 P.M. Preparation of ACNW Reports (Open)
The Committee will discuss proposed reports on the following topics:
4.1) High-Level Waste Risk Insights Initiative (BJG/LFD)
4.2) Final Research Plan on Radionuclide Transport in the Environment (GMH/RPS)
WEDNESDAY JUNE 19, 2002, CONFERENCE ROOM 2B3, TWO WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND
5) 8:30 - 8:35 A.M.
Opening Statement (Open) (GMH/JTL)
The Chairman will make opening remarks regarding the conduct of today's sessions.
 6) 8:35 - 10:00 A.M. Entombment Option for Decommissioning Power Reactors Commissioners (Open) (RGW/HJL)
The Committee will hear from the NRC staff on comments received on the Rulemaking Plan and Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking: Entombment Options for Power Reactors.
   10:10 - 10:15 A.M.

 7) 10:15 - 1:00 P.M. Long-Term Behavior of Waste Packages (Open) (RGW/ACC)
The Committee will hear presentations from the NRC and CNWRA staff on issues and activities related to the projected performance of waste packages in the proposed high-level waste repository at Yucca Mountain, NV. This will include presentations on risk insights from performance assessment analyses, and presentations on work related to confirming performance and understanding potential failure mechanisms such as from corrosion.

8) 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. Yucca Mountain Review Plan, Revision 2 (Open) (GMH/RKM)
The Committee will discuss the elements of a letter report on the Yucca Mountain Review Plan, Revision 2.

9) 3:15 -6:00 P.M. Preparation of ACNW Reports (Open)
The Committee will discuss proposed reports on the following topics:
     9.1) ACNW Action Plan for FY 2002 and FY 2003

9.3) Long-Term Behavior of Waste Packages (RGW/ACC)
9.4) Igneous Activity Considerations (GMH/MPL)

The Chairman will make opening remarks regarding the conduct of today's sessions.
11) 8:35 - 8:45 A.M.

Election of ACNW Officers (Open)(GMH/JTL) Members will nominate and elect members to the positions of Chairman and Vice Chairman for the period July 1, 2002 through June 30, 2003.

12) 8:45 - 2:45 P.M.(LUNCH 12N - 1:00 P.M.)

Preparation of ACNW Reports (Open)The Committee will continue preparation of reports noted in item 9.

13) 2:45 - 3:00 P.M. Miscellaneous (Open)
The Committee will discuss matters related to the conduct of
Committee activities and matters and specific issues that
were not completed during previous meetings, as time and
availability of information permit.

  • Presentation time should not exceed 50 percent of the total time allocated for a specific item. The remaining 50 percent of the time is reserved for discussion.
  • Thirty-Five (35) copies of the presentation materials should be provided to the ACNW.
  • ACNW meeting schedules are subject to change. Presentations may be canceled or rescheduled to another day. If such a change would result in significant inconvenience or hardship, be sure to verify the schedule with Mr. Howard Larson at 301-415-6805 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., several days prior to the meeting.
