The Forest Service hires permanent and seasonal firefighters.
Look for job series 0462, which includes most fire-related
jobs, when searching
USAJobs and
other listings.
Some firefighting and restoration work is done by
contractors.
Devil's Head is the only lookout tower on the forest.
Campers and other public land users need to follow
basic campfire care.

Fuels Management
To protect homes and improve the health of the forest,
we can use several methods to reduce thick forest vegetation
(fuels) where the forest may be subject to a destructive
wildland fire.
The region has expanded fire assessment, suppression,
and prevention programs to carry out the National Fire
Plan.
