Title:  11th Annual Civil War Symposium - Abraham Lincoln as War President

Place:   The Cantigny First Division Museum, Wheaton, Illinois

The Symposium presentations include:

  • The Emancipation Proclamation as a War Measure
    Paul Finkleman, Albany Law School
  • Current Lincoln Scholarship
    Harold Holzer, United States Lincoln Bicentennial Commission
  • Lincoln Records in the National Archives
    Trevor Plante, National Archives and Records Administration
  • Lincoln and the Copperhead Movement in Illinois
    Thomas Schwartz, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library
  • Living History re-enactors will be on display during the Symposium.

The 2008 Civil War Symposium is dedicated to the late John Y. Simon, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
