Patuxent Scientist Beyer Gives Testimony about Couer d'Alene River Basin Natural Resource Damage Assessement (NRDA) Case 

On March 15 USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center Scientist Dr Nelson Beyer gave testimony in the District Court in Idaho for the Coeur d'Alene River Basin Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) case. This is possibly the largest NRDA case in history, with reports suggesting that a complete cleanup would cost in the billions of dollars. Dr Beyer presented expert testimony on injury to birds, explaining the pathways of exposure, the specific injuries, and the injury thresholds, which are being used in GIS mapping of the Basin to plan restoration. His testimony was based primarily on the extensive laboratories studies done by Patuxent Scientists Gary Heinz, David Hoffman and Dan Day.
