The Mission of the Washington Chapter of the APDA is to support and empower people with Parkinson's Disease, their families, and care-givers, through education, fundraising for research, sponsoring support groups, and networking with resource and referral agencies involved in the care of people with Parkinson's Disease.

Presented by the Washington Chapter of the APDA and the Northwest Parkinson's Foundation.

The 2008 Conference features national and local experts presenting the latest insights on living well with Parkinson's disease. The symposium includes sessions on medical management, the role of exercise, brain health and technology, and empowerment, focusing on practical tools that patients and caregivers can use to enhance their quality of life.

The Washington State APDA now offers podcasts for those who are interested in learning more about Parkinson disease. Topics include an introduction to PD, Parkinson's 101, medications, nutrition, exercise and more. The Washington Parkinson Disease Registry (WPDR) will begin operations in May 2007. The purpose of the WPDR is to create a list of individuals with Parkinson disease interested in participating in research studies.

[Straight Talk and Honest Hope DVD]After 2 years of development, the DVD "Managing Parkinson's: Straight Talk and Honest Hope" is here. The DVD provides education and information to those who are newly diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, or those who live in a community with minimal education and support for those with the disease. The DVDs will be provided through the national network of APDA I&R Centers.
