Patuxent's Bird Banding Lab Hosts North American Banding Council 

The North American Banding Council (NABC) held its Annual Meeting at the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center (PWRC) March 23-24, hosted by the Bird Banding Laboratory (BBL). A total of 28 participants from across the USA and Canada met to conduct their annual business meeting. The meeting included standing committee meetings with planning for the next year, elections, and an all too brief field trip hosted by Johathan Male. The NABC is made up of representatives from 15 ornithological and banding organizations and several at-large members. State-of-the-Art DVD Technology Presentation Held at Patuxent: Presented by McFaul, Niemann and LaBarge

Patuxent scientists and staff were treated to a presentation of state-of-the-art DVD technology on Wednesday, 11 April. Jerry McFaul of the Geology Division, Brand Niemann of the Environmental Protection Agency, and Ralph LaBarge, managing partner of AlphaDVD presented a comprehensive display of DVD technology covering aspects of data storage, data manipulation and display, and high resolution imagery and animation. The group have agree to provide technical assistance to selected Patuxent programs. For those unable to attend the demonstration, the IRM group videotaped the presentation.
