Peterjohn Receives Patuxent STAR Award

At the USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center's Centerwide meeting today wildlife biologist Bruce Peterjohn of the Patuxent Monitoring Program was presented with a STAR award for his efforts on behalf of that program. Over the past year and a half, the Monitoring Program has been going through a steady growth phase in the area of animal population database development and data delivery. During this period, Bruce has taken on all operational aspects of coordinating and supervising the development of new bird databases; development of state-of-the-art, web-based, data input and extraction software; and, most recently, oversight of the North American Amphibian Monitoring Program, development of an amphibian monitoring program for northeastern Interior Department lands, and design of a national database for the broader Departmental ARMI program (Amphibian Research and Monitoring Initiative). This work has involved complex programmatic, monetary, and personal responsibilities. Through his dedication, skill, and outstanding performance of these duties, he has helped move the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center into a new position of prominence as a center for population monitoring, data management, and data delivery.
