Scientist Kendall to Present Seminar Entitled "Elements of an
Informed Decision: Adaptive Wildlife Management"
Dr William L. Kendall will be giving an invited presentation entitled, Elements of an Informed Decision: Adaptive Wildlife Management at 1:30 on Wednesday, 31 July 2002 at the Buena Vista Audubon Nature Center located at 2202 South Coast Highway, Oceanside, CA 92054. Dr. Kendall is a research biometrician whose duties include the development, application, and evaluation of methods in quantitative ecology, as well as providing consultation on these topics to Department of Interior managers and other scientists. Dr. Kendall's current research focuses on several areas of capture-recapture statistical methodology, the conceptual development of adaptive resource management and its application to harvest and refuge management problems, and population dynamics of sandhill cranes, waterfowl, albatross, sea turtles and manatees. Dr. Kendall has recently co-authored a book on wildlife study design as well as a chapter on using models to facilitate complex decisions. Becomes Editor of the Urban Ecosystems Journal
Patuxent Scientist Glenn Guntenspergen has recently taken on the position as Editor of the journal Urban Ecosystems. Urban Ecosystems is an international journal devoted to scientific investigations of the ecology of urban environments and their policy implications. The scope of the journal is broad, including interactions between urban ecosystems and associated suburban and rural environments. Urban Ecosystems is published by Chapman and Hall.
