Program Description
PLF&R sponsors the CERT program to enhance an existing Block-captain, Block-Co-captain radio communication system within the planned-community of Port Ludlow, WA. PLF&R promotes & coordinates a Neighborhood Smoke Detector Battery Exchange program. A resident volunteers to be the neighborhood point-person to work with the fire department for a special neighborhood life safety visit from the fire fighters; the FF's use the visit as an area familiarization drill and a way to touch citizens one-on-one with life safety information in a non-emergency atmosphere while checking and changing smoke detector batteries. PLF&R supports & works closely with the Jefferson County Department of Emergency Management NEIGHBORHOOD PREPAREDNESS GROUP.
