| The Children's Literature Center serves those organizations and individuals who study, produce, collect, interpret, and disseminate children's books, films, television programs, or other forms of materials destined for children's information and recreational use, usually outside the classroom. The Center does not serve children directly. They benefit indirectly, however, from assistance given to teachers, librarians, parents, and others who work with youth. The Center's users, ranging from the general public to members of Congress, include authors and illustrators, film makers, journalists, and researchers from the world over. The Center's general expenses are supported by appropriated funds. In addition, special projects and activities including programs, consultants, and special publications are supported by the Children's Literature Center Fund, created in 1985. Funds are solicited from individuals, corporations, and foundations. | ||
