Program Description
The South Carolina Region 3 Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a locally-based, region-wide medical-personnel resource whose purpose is to augment, assist and support the existing medical and public health systems during disasters and public health emergencies. MRC Volunteers are also able to participate in local health fairs and other community events during non-emergency times. Volunteers are able to choose which activities or emergencies that they are willing to respond to according to their comfort zones or time restrictions. Volunteers are also provided liablility protection through the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) when they are activated. We are currently working with the SC Legislature to provide volunteers with workman's comp protection as well.
