DES MOINES, Iowa -- Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Harrison and Muscatine counties will close permanently at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2008.

The Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division (HSEMD) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) opened the temporary DRCs to provide face-to-face assistance to those affected by the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding beginning May 25 and continuing.

The Harrison County DRC at the Dunlap City Hall, 716 Iowa Ave., Dunlap, IA 51529, has been visited by about 30 people since it opened July 7, 2008.

The Muscatine County DRC at Muscatine High School, 2705 Cedar St., Muscatine, IA 52761 opened July 9, 2008 and has been visited by about 30 people.

It is not necessary to visit a DRC to receive FEMA assistance. Persons who suffered damage should register with FEMA by calling its toll-free telephone line at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), TTY 1-800-462-7585, or online at www.fema.gov.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
