Disaster Recovery Center To Open In Butler County

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) is open Thursday, May 29, in Parkersburg, Iowa, to provide face-to-face assistance to those who suffered damage from the tornado that struck Butler County.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency said it will be located:

American Legion Hall Parking Lot
Colfax and Miners Streets
(One Block West of Highway 58 on Colfax)
Parkersburg, IA 50665

The hours will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice.

If possible, applicants should register with FEMA prior to visiting the DRC. Call FEMA's toll-free Helpline/registration line at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) (TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech- and hearing-impaired) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily (local time), or go online at www.fema.gov 24 hours a day. Callers must provide their correct name and Social Security number, address of the damaged property and insurance information.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to, and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
