Housing Information Session To Be Held In Plaquemines

PORT SULPHUR, La. -- Plaquemines Parish and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will hold a Housing Information Session at the South Plaquemines High School and Elementary School on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Plaquemines Parish residents are invited to attend and learn more about housing options and available resources. Other participants include Louisiana Spirit, the Louisiana Recovery Authority and the Disaster Housing Assistance Program.

Information will be provided on the status of the FEMA housing program, resources available to assist FEMA travel trailer and mobile home residents in their transition to permanent housing, the process for transferring to the Disaster Housing Assistance Program and receiving rental assistance, and information on formaldehyde testing.

Following presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to meet individually with participating agencies.

Transportation will be provided through the Plaquemines Community Action Agency from Diamond and Captain Larry's trailer sites. Busses will leave for the meeting from those sites at 5 p.m.

FEMA coordinates the federal government's role in preparing for, preventing, mitigating the effects of, responding to and recovering from all domestic disasters, whether natural or man-made, including acts of terror.
