Facility Picture
The VA Roseburg Healthcare System (VARHS) consists of one Veterans Health Administration (VHA) facility located in Roseburg, OR, and three Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC).  The Roseburg campus consists of 200 acres and 32 buildings.  VARHS offers primary care and hospital services in medicine, surgery and mental health for the 62,000 veterans who reside in Central and Southern Oregon and Northern California. 

VA Roseburg Healthcare System’s CBOCs are strategically located in Bandon, Brookings and Eugene, serving the counties of Douglas, Lane, Coos and Curry in Oregon, and Del Norte County in Northern CaliforniaAn average of 690 employees served over 25,000 veterans in FY 06 with 282,734 primary and secondary outpatient visits, 21,790 Hospital Bed Days of Care and 17,240 Nursing Home Bed Days of Care. 

VARHS also operates a Community Reintegration Service Center in Eugene, consisting of a Homeless Program, Homeless Housing Program with the Department of Health and Human Services (HUD/VASH), Substance Abuse and Vocational Rehabilitation services. 

Specialty services are provided within the healthcare system or through referral consultations to the university-affiliated tertiary care centers located in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington, or through referrals in the community.  Specialty services include Cardiology, Neurology, Infectious Diseases, Optometry, Ophthalmology, ENT, Endocrinology, Urology, Renal, Gerontology, Pulmonary, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Dermatology and Vocational Rehabilitation.  Additional specialty services are available within the Northwest Network.   

Affiliations:  

VARHS has active affiliations with Umpqua and Mt. Hood Community Colleges, Graceland, Gonzaga, University of Portland, and Oregon Health Sciences University for LPN, RN and BSN nursing programs, along with nurse Masters/Masters Nurse Practitioner programs and Physician Assistant rotations from Oregon Health Sciences and University of Washington.  A practicum option for Ph.D. candidates with the University of Oregon is also available.

An elective rotation for Family Medicine, with Oregon Health Sciences University began January 14, 2002.  The medical residents rotate with Operative Care Service preceptors and staff for a period of four to eight weeks, gaining experience in special procedures. 
Additional programs such as Dietetic Internship, Health Care Administration, Pharmacy, Social Work, EMT, Optometry and Computer Technology are supported.
