Western Area Power Administration is a Federal Power Marketing Administration that markets and transmits about 10,000 megawatts of power from 56 hydropower plants and part of the power from one coal-fired power plant. Western operates and maintains over 17,000 miles of transmission lines in a 15 state territory west of the Mississippi River.
