Thousands of Kazakhstani Students Learn Economics from JA

During the 2006-2007 academic year, over 200,000 school students in Kazakhstan studied economics and entrepreneurship through USAID-supported Junior Achievement (JA) programs. The program, brought to the country with funding from USAID 12 years ago, currently operates in all 14 regions of Kazakhstan. JA offers courses including Student Company, Management and Economics Simulation Exercise, Global Marketplace, Global Business Ethics, Banks in Action, in local languages. Four program textbooks have been approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan to date.

In 2006, the winners of JA’s National Student Tournaments in Kazakhstan received scholarships to study at the Kazakh-British Technical University and Kazakh Academy of Labor and Social Relations.
