          OSM AWARDS MISSOURI $449,324 TO ASSIST  JUN 2 5 1997
      IN REGULATING SURFACE EFFECTS OF COAL MINING

    The Interior Department's Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSM) is providing Missouri $449,324 to assist the state in regulating
the surface effects of coal mining.

    The grant will assist in paying Missouri's inspection and enforcement costs
including equipment, supplies, and transportation.
