                OSM AWARDS NEW MEXICO $637,699 TO ASSIST
              IN REGULATING SURFACE EFFECTS OF COAL MINING
                                    
The Interior Department s Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSM) has awarded New Mexico a $637,699 grant to help the state
regulate the surface effects of coal mining.
The grant will assist in paying New Mexico s inspection and enforcement costs,
including expenses for equipment, supplies, and transportation.
