                  OSM AWARDS LOUISIANA $168, 919 GRANT TO  
                 REGULATE SURFACE EFFECTS OF COAL MINING 


          The Interior Department's Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and

Enforcement (OSM) is providing Louisiana with a $168, 919 grant to help

the state regulate the surface effects of coal mining. 

     The grant assists in paying half of Louisiana's inspection and enforcement

costs, including equipment, supplies and transportation.
