              OSM AWARDS PENNSYLVANIA $10,810,597 TO ASSIST
              IN REGULATING SURFACE EFFECTS OF COAL MINING
                                    
The Interior Department s Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSM) has awarded Pennsylvania a $10,810,597 grant to help the
state regulate the surface effects of coal mining.

The grant will fund half of the state s inspection and enforcement costs,
including equipment, supplies, and transportation.
