 HuGE News

A new version of HuGE Navigator (1.1) has been launched. The new version contains two new renovated components, Genopedia and Phenopedia. Genopedia provides gene-centered summaries of gene-disease associations and Phenopedia provides disease-centered summaries. A download feature was added to the HuGE Literature Finder. A few bugs were also fixed.

On January 24th and 25th, 2008, HuGENet™ hosted a HuGENet™ Workshop, “HuGE Networks, Genome-Wide Association Studies, and the Knowledge Base on Genetic Variation and Human Health”, at the CDC Global Communications Center in Atlanta, GA. Participants discussed approaches for developing the knowledge base on genetic variation and human health, focusing on “field synopses” that summarize genetic associations with specific diseases and a proposal for an online encyclopedia. HuGENet™ would like to spotlight recent connections between the HuGE Navigator and other data resources:

Entrez Gene: Links between the HuGE Navigator and Entrez Gene have been added to both sites. In addition, the HuGE Navigator will supply Entrez Gene with the citations of HuGE articles identified and curated by Navigator staff.

A Catalog of Published Genome-Wide Association Studies: The Office of Population Genomics at the National Human Genome Research Institute, in collaboration with HuGENet™, has compiled a catalog of published genome wide association studies (GWAS). Links to this resource have been added to GWAS in the HuGE Literature Finder. non-gov warning icon

UCSC Genome Browser: The HuGE Track, non-gov warning icon  a custom track that links the contents of the HuGE Navigator non-gov warning icon to the UCSC Genome Browser was created in November. Researchers can use this resource to visualize genes of interest and retrieve relevant articles on genetic associations.
