Family History: A Disease Prevention Tool for Public Health Practice

This is a monthly teleconference sponsored by the CDC Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity (DNPA).  Slides are emailed a few days before the presentation. Your state health department has a "DNPA Proctor" who is provided a phone number to participate in this teleconference.  Please contact Melanie Myers at mfmyers@cdc.gov if you need help identifying this person. 

Objectives:
The participant will be able to:

  • Understand family history as a risk factor for chronic diseases and a potential screening tool for early disease detection and prevention
  • Identify possibilities for incorporating family history into public health practice and programs
  • Identify existing family history resources and research

Continuing Education Credits:
This teleconference provides one hour of free continuing professional education credit. Contact your professional association for more details on how to apply for continuing education credits. Ask your DNPA Proctor for a certificate of attendance.
