Facility Picture

The mission of the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center is to honor America's veterans by providing exceptional health care that improves their health and well-being. The facility is located among the scenic Allegheny Mountains in central Pennsylvania. This modern facility offers a comprehensive range of health care services to eligible veterans. Outpatient services are provided through primary care and specialty clinics. All active patients are enrolled in a primary care team. The medical center has 68 beds comprised of 28 acute care beds and 40 long term care beds. The medical center's market service area consists of 14 counties in central Pennsylvania: Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Juniata, Mifflin, and Somerset. Approximately 87,133 veterans reside in this 14 county market service area. The VAMC administers an extensive outpatient fee basis program. There are three community based outpatient clinics located in Johnstown, DuBois, and State College, Pennsylvania.

 

AFFILIATIONS

The VAMC has various graduate and undergraduate program affiliations with several universities and colleges. Additionally, the VAMC has a medical resource sharing agreement with Department of Defense.
