The Albuquerque VA Regional Office (RO) provides non-medical veterans' benefits and services to approximately 177,000 veterans located throughout the State of New Mexico. The main office is located in downtown Albuquerque. In addition to the Veterans Service Center, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment and Support Services divisions, the RO houses seven veterans service organizations. Satellite offices are located in Las Cruces and Santa Fe.

The Muskogee Regional Office administers education benefits other than Chapter 31, and has stationed one employee at the Albuquerque Regional Office.

Loan Guaranty activities have been centralized to the Phoenix Regional Loan Center. There is one out-based SAH employee stationed at the Albuquerque Regional Office to serve New Mexico.

OUTREACH

The Regional Office maintains an extensive outreach program in cooperation with the New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS), the Santa Fe National Cemetery, and the New Mexico Department of Veterans' Services (NMDVS).

We also regularly participate in joint ventures with the Indian Health Service to provide comprehensive benefits information for tribal leaders and others who interact with Native American communities.

We partner with the New Mexico Department of Labor to participate in "one stop" centers around the state, which are attended by local and national support agencies.

We provide information to these primarily rural communities regarding compensation, pension, eligibility to VA medical care and home loans, and benefits offered through the state government.

We have an active homeless-veteran outreach program, which includes "Stand Downs" throughout the state.

We work closely with the VA benefits office in El Paso at the VA clinic that services many of our veterans in the southern part of New Mexico.

We also participate in health fairs sponsored by a local television station, and work closely with our Congressional staff offices throughout the state.
