COURSE SCOPE

The Water Issues course provides an introductory understanding of two laws, The Federal Water Pollution Control Act, also known as, The Clean Water Act and The Safe Drinking Water Act.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of the Water Issues Course, you will be able to:

  • Provide a synopsis of the evolution of the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act.

  • Provide a summary of the Federal Regulations and policies that have been promulgated under these Acts.

  • Recognize the minimum statutory and regulatory requirements as defined in the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act to ensure environmental compliance.

  • Indicate what type(s) of permit(s) are required to comply with legal requirements and know when to execute the necessary steps to complete the process of obtaining the permits.

  • Differentiate between the enforcement responsibilities and reporting requirements of the Federal government, the States and other agencies.

  • Select the appropriate grant program(s) and follow the necessary application requirements to qualify for the grants available under the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act.

  • Identify the procedural guidelines issued to carry out the missions of the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act.

COURSE LENGTH
