Sacramento River Basin NAWQA Program

Water quality studies in the Sacramento River Basin were completed by the United States Geological Survey as part of the National Water Quality Assessment (NAWQA) Program. The NAWQA Program is designed to provide information related to the status of and trends in the quality of water within the United States. The NAWQA Program utilizes an integrated approach to these studies involving surface water, ground water and aquatic ecology. The data collected during the first high intensity phase of sampling of the Sacramento River Basin NAWQA are available from this report.
