Research Interests:

Nidia Gallego is a research staff member of Carbon Materials Technology (CMT) Group, in the Materials Science and Technology Division at ORNL. Her research interests include: the use of carbon as a catalyst support, development of porosity through physical activation, and the characterization of porosity and reactivity using gas adsorption methods.

Selected current research themes include:

  • Enhancement of hydrogen storage capacity of nanoporous carbons by the addition of metal nanoparticles.
  • Understanding the role of spillover on metal-assisted hydrogen storage in nanoporous carbon near ambient temperatures.
  • The role of porosity and surface chemistry on the adsorption properties of nanoporous carbons.
