A Multi Mission Ship for a Multi Mission Coast Guard
The Coast Guard Cutter CLEAT is the newest of the fleet of small ice-breaking tugboats in service for the Coast Guard.
The Western Boat Building Corporation in Tacoma, Washington built the CLEAT. The ship was launched in 1967. From the time of its launch until 1988, the ship was based at Gloucester City, New Jersey. When the Coast Guard moved its Delaware River Base to the foot of Washington Street in South Philadelphia, the CLEAT moved as well.
