Starting an FETP
Countries interested in an FETP generally undergo a series of steps to determine the appropriateness of starting such a program. Teams of experts conduct in-country pre-assessments and assessments, leading to a recommendation. If the determination is made to start an FETP, implementation begins.
Field Epidemiology Training Program Development Handbook
DGPHCD has created the Field Epidemiology Training Program Development Handbook that explains the process of starting an FETP. Designed for public health professionals who want to implement or strengthen their FETPs, the handbook delineates the key factors that contribute to a sound and effective applied epidemiology training program.

The Training programs in Epidemiology and Public Health Interventions NETwork (TEPHINET) and the African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) are non-profit professional alliances of field epidemiology training programs. These networks are a valuable source of information for those interested in FETPs.
