Meet the CO, CDR David C. Haynes

Atlantic Strike Team Commanding Officer, CDR David C. HaynesCDR Haynes began his military career in the U.S. Navy in 1978 and was assigned to the fast attack submarine USS LOS ANGELES, SSN 688, in the Engineering Division and qualified in submarines in February 1980. CDR Haynes embarked on his Coast Guard career in 1988 and has served in a variety of challenging and interesting assignments. His most recent assignment is as the Commanding Officer, Coast Guard Atlantic Strike Team located Fort Dix, New Jersey. Previous to the Atlantic Strike Team, CDR Haynes served as Liaison Officer and Special Assistant to DHS Under Secretary for Preparedness. He also served as Liaison Officer to the DHS Operational Integration Staff where he provided subject matter expertise in development of DHS operational integration and preparedness doctrine and policies. In previous tours, CDR Haynes served as Executive Officer, Marine Safety Office St. Louis; Chief, Contingency Preparedness and Response Management School and the Coast Guard Training Center in Yorktown, VA.; Chief, marine Environmental Response Branch at Marine Safety Office in Anchorage, AK.; Marine Inspections, Investigations and Port Operations Officer at Marine Safety Office Hampton Rhodes, VA.; and Marine Inspector, Marine Inspections Office in New York City. CDR Haynes' personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, CG Commendation Medal (x3), Department of Transportation 911 medal, CG Achievement Medal, Commandant's letter of Commendation and numerous other awards. CDR Haynes holds a Batchelor of Science Degree from Oregon State University.
