The
NAWQA data are provided here as formatted tables and as tab-delimited files to allow flexibility in the use of the data.
For surface water, ground water, and sediment there is a formatted table for each site that allows for viewing data in the Web browser or printing data directly from the Web page. There is also a tab-delimited file for each site or for all the sites in each activity that may be downloaded and imported into other software. These tab-delimited columns of data do not have headings, so a column descriptor list is provided with each activity. Each column in these files is accounted for; therefore, what look like spaces are actually part of a field allotted for each column of data and the trailing zeros are there as place holders and are not meant to represent the precision of the measurement. For most biological data, there is a formatted table for each site that allows for viewing data in the Web browser or printing data directly from the Web page. There is also a tab-delimited file for each site or for all the sites in each activity that may be downloaded and imported into other software. These tab-delimited columns of data contain headings and descriptions of what type of data are in each column (number and character). At the top of the data file is information preceded by the character '#' that generally describes the data in the table. There is a more detailed column descriptor list provided with each activity. Some sites were used for multiple studies; therefore, when requesting data for a specific site, additional data from all other activities at that site will also be presented. A blank in a constituent column indicates that the constituent was not analyzed for in the sample. Please see the Activities page for more detail on each study. |
