Application Process
The application cycle for this year has officially opened and the IETA program is accepting applications for its 2009 Cohort 11. You can download the Application Form by clicking on the link below. Please fill out application information on your computer and then print 3 copies for the application package. The application must be received by close of business Friday, October 17, 2008.
A complete application package will include 1 original and 2 copies of the following:
- Printable PDF Application Form
- Complete application form with first-level and second-level supervisor signatures.
- Brief responses (2 pages maximum) to 6 questions provided in application.
- Current Resume
- Most recent full-year performance appraisal rating or COER rating (cover sheet only with rating official's signature.)
Incomplete application packages will not be reviewed. Faxed or electronic copies will not be accepted. Instead, application packages should be mailed or delivered to:

All completed applications will be reviewed and rated, and the top qualified applicants will be invited to interview by telephone in late November. Applicants accepted for the eleventh IETA Cohort will be notified in early December and the first workshop will be held in January 2009. Please note that your placement in an overseas assignment is contingent upon passing the Department of State Medical Clearance.
Again, the completed application packet must be received by close of business Friday, October 17, 2008.
