Surgeon General David Satcher to Help Launch Innovative Heart Disease Prevention Program
Olympic Skater Michael Weiss Participates in Arlington County Event

What: Hearts N' Parks, an innovative community-based initiative that teaches people of all ages how to incorporate heart-healthy eating and physical activity into their lives, will be launched at a special event in Arlington, Virginia. Program includes a news conference and heart-healthy activities, including cooking demonstrations, race walking and tennis clinics, jump rope demonstration, blood pressure screening, and a seniors group concert. (A list of activities is attached.)
Who: Hearts N' Parks is co-sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health, and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). The Arlington County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Resources is the first to offer the program in the Washington, D.C. area.

A heart healthy lunch will be available for all attendees. The event is held in conjunction with National Recreation and Parks Month in July.
