I never collected support. What now?
  Question
My child is over eighteen. I never collected support. Is there anything I can do now?
  Answer
The age for ending child support is determined by the states. However, the CSE Program is not restricted to collecting child support only for minor children (except for the federal tax offset program, which is not available for collecting non-assistance arrearages once a child is emancipated). States have their own statutes of limitations on collection of past due child support, which may prevent full enforcement of the order, and some States can only collect arrears that accrued after the case was brought into the CSE program.

To see how your state can help, check with the CSE office there. State CSE agency telephone numbers and addresses are at:

We have state specific child support information on our web site at: http://ocse3.acf.dhhs.gov/ext/irg/sps/selectastate.
