I'm surprised you're still on an RCI.  I have extensive knowledge not only on the RCI product but, I'm also quite familiar with HL7 bi-directional interfaces.  I'm just finishing up a Quadramed to SCC Lab bi-directional interface using eGate.
 
As far at changing, my opinion is that the RCI is very reliable, cheap and typically doesn't require a lot of maintenance.  I would be curious to know if Eclipsys even supports the product.

Hello,
    We are using a Remote Computer Interface (RCI) between our E7000 and
Misys systems, and thinking about moving to an HL7 interface for lab orders.
Has anyone done this?  Or, if you are still using the RCI, can you tell me
why you have not changed to a different interface?
