3rd Infantry: The Misssissippi 3rd Infantry Regiment was formally organized in October 1861 and merged with the 31st and 40th Infantry Regiments in 1865 to form the Misssissippi 3rd Infantry Regiment, Consolidated. 45th Infantry: The Mississippi 45th Infantry Regiment was originally organized as the 3rd Infantry Battalion (known as "Hardcastle's" from its commander, Aaron R. Hardcastle) in 1861, which became the 33rd Infantry Regiment in 1862. The regiment was renamed the 45th Mississippi Infantry in 1863. See Sifakis, pp. 73, 136-137.

Jeff Davis Legion: This unit was originally established as the 2nd Mississippi Cavalry Battalion, consisting of three companies from Mississippi and one from Alabama, in October 1861. With the addition of companies from Alabama and Georgia, the unit was renamed the Jeff Davis Legion later that year. See Sifakis, p. 60.
