The Office of Early Care and Education (OECE) provides a central point of reference to the general public on child care issues.

Parents can access information on child care choices, types of programs (child care centers, infant and toddler programs, family child care homes, Head Start, before- and afterschool programs, and public school preschools), subsidies to assist in paying for child care for infants through school-age children, and services for children with special needs.

Child care providers can access information on the Child Care Advisory Council, the Head Start-State Collaboration Project, the MAP to Inclusive Child Care Project and school-age child care activities.

The Office of Early Care and Education disseminates information on various early care and education topics from local, state and national sources to appropriate offices within the Department of Human Services. In addition, it is responsible for advising, analyzing, promoting, and developing policy options and support for the Department on early care and education policy.

General Activities :

•  Disseminate appropriate information regarding funding, research, best practice, professional development opportunities, job postings, new initiatives, etc., to a broad range of early care and education practitioners across the state via email.

•  Work with other state departments to facilitate collaboration on early care and education issues at the state and local level.

•  Present workshops and informational sessions on early care and education issues at conferences.

•  Co-chair the child care committee of the Pediatric Asthma Coalition.

•  Represent DHS Commissioner, Commission on Early Childhood Education, Department of Education.

•  Represent DHS Commissioner, N.J. After 3 Advisory Committee, Department of Education.
