The Adolescent Reproductive Health program promotes reproductive health
among young people, with a primary focus on preventing unintended pregnancy
among young people aged 10–24 years. Science-based approaches are the foundation of our
work as we build partnerships to prevent sexual risk behaviors and mistimed
or unwanted pregnancies, and to support positive youth development.
We fulfill our mission by
- Monitoring and interpreting trends in teen and unintended pregnancy
and sexual risk behaviors, including identifying and addressing data coverage, and quality.
- Conducting research in risk and protective factors, promising and
innovative interventions, and effective methods to promote the use of
research findings.
- Supporting and evaluating the efforts of national, state, and local
organizations to implement science-based approaches.
- Developing and informing policy (e.g., by contributing to a national
teen pregnancy research agenda)
- Supporting the exchange of information among scientific and program
colleagues, partners, and others.
