Donald Hall speaks at the 2006 National Book Festival.
Speaker Biography: Donald Hall was named the 14th Poet Laureate this past June. He began writing as an adolescent and attended the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference at the age of 16 -- the same year he had his first book published. He is the author of more than 21 books of prose and 15 books of poetry, including his most recent, "White Apples and the Taste of Stone: Poems 1946-2006" (Houghton Mifflin, 2006). Among his many honors and awards are the National Book Critics Circle Award, The Los Angeles Times Book Prize, the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize, the Frost Medal and a Caldecott Medal for one of his children's books. He is a member of the Academy of Arts and Letters and has served as Poet Laureate of New Hampshire, where he lives.
