Donald Hall
“The National Book Festival shows us that we are not alone in our reading and literacy. People, just by their very presence, show that they share a love of the written word.”
Donald Hall, named the 14th Poet Laureate by the Librarian of Congress James H. Billington this past June, has authored more than 36 prose and poetry books — his first at 16. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and a Caldecott Medal for one of his children’s books. Hall will appear in the Poetry Pavilion on September 30.
Listen as Donald Hall speaks about the importance of poetry and reads from his new poetry collection “White Apples and the Taste of Stone: Poems 1946-2006.”
