Claims Management Unit
 
 

The Claims Management Unit is responsible for the statewide establishment and collection of TANF and Food Stamp claims. County staff submit claims for review and approval through an on-line automated system that calculates the overpayment for Food Stamps and TANF. Repayment notices as well as delinquent notices are sent from the automated system to notify clients of their responsibility for repayment of claims. The automated claims system allows for the statewide tracking of individuals responsible for repayment of a claim. This unit is also responsible for handling the disqualification data that is entered into the Food Stamp Program's National Disqualified Recipient Subsystem (DRS) in order that disqualifications imposed in one state may be served in another state, thus preventing improper participation.
