In June 1999, the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center Library moved to a newly renovated site in the Academy Building (Building 14), Room 114.  The library is located in the breezeway that connects the Academy Building to the Air Traffic Building (Building 3).  Our new entrance is through the courtyard between the Academy Building and the Radar Training Facility (Building 25).  The library can also be entered from the  Air Traffic Building or from the Academy Building.

Features of the facility include:

  • A reading area with sofas and easy chairs
  • A small conference room
  • Study tables
  • Two computers accessible to library users
  • Microfiche and microfilm reader/printers
  • Photocopy machine for library research
  • Overnight book drop for after hours book return
  • Display windows for library book displays

Shelving

In January 2004, we completed the installation of high-density compact mobile shelving on the south side of the library.  The shelving is electrically operated and moves on rails embedded in the floor.  We now have much needed additional space for our journal collection.  We were also able to move some materials from the north side of the library to add additional space for our book collection.  The new shelving has provided a better organized, more accessible library collection.
