These short stories put a "human face" on the people, the projects, and the science of fire management at Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks. The road to Cedar Grove is closed from November to April because of rockfall, not snow. Erosion can bring rocks tumbling at any time of year, but the threat is greatest in winter. This is when the freeze-thaw action in the rocks tend to start rockslides.
